Animation has an almost endless number of uses. Most people will instantly think of Disney, Pixar or Aardman and Wallace & Gromit. However, this barely scratches the surface of the possibilities of animation.

Animation has an almost endless number of uses. Most people will instantly think of Disney, Pixar or Aardman and Wallace & Gromit. However, this barely scratches the surface of the possibilities of animation.

This article follows on from my first post about the types of animation. I will be discussing some ways in which MIC’s animations are used.

MIC’s Explainer Video Packages

We have a range of packages to fit in with anyone’s budget and audience. Going from simple text animation with a narrator you’ll find in our Bronze package, to our Platinum package in which we can create anything you dream up!

We have bunched these together because they all have the same core use … to explain a product, service or idea in the simplest and most efficient and effective way possible. Really distilling what you want to say and creating a truly engaging way to get it across to your audience. Usually these videos are around 30 to 90 seconds.

I will go through some of the places you can use explainer videos.

Website landing pages

Customers and viewers of your website tend to stay longer when there is a video on the home page. Once they click ‘play’ and engage with your message, they are far less likely to bounce off and far more likely to investigate further, find out more and, eventually, become a customer.

Social media

Sharing a video through social media doesn’t just make for a great post, but really gets your audience to fully understand your message, enticing them to visit your website. They are more likely to share a video as well, which increases the number of people your message will reach!

Presentations

You don’t have to stick to purely online platforms for an animated video. People often use them in meetings, presentations and pitches. Using them at the start to quickly give an audience a background understanding of your idea, company or product. A fast and effective way to get people engaged and make them excited and informed about.

Bespoke

We also offer a large range of other bespoke services. I will mention just a few, but with animation the sky really is the limit with what you can do. New uses are being found all the time.

Educational

Educational animation can be similar to the explainer video packages. Both teach the audience something. When I speak about educational uses however I am generally talking about something a bit more chunky like our learning resource Eddie & Friends. One of the animations teaches early years the importance of drinking water. For this it’s important to take into account the audience as well as have a totally different type of script to the short explainer videos.

Other educational uses can include medical visualisations, product demonstrations or representations of complex industrial processes. Animation’s ability to adapt and engage with any audience on any topic is unparalleled and can really bring a subject to life!

Architecture

When creating a new building it is vital to see what the end result will look like and how it will fit in it’s intended surroundings. Using 3D animation, modelling and rendering we can create a computer generated (CG) model of the building and either place it in a CG environment or integrate it into live film.

This visual reference really helps to sell the project / building to investors or end homeowners. The ability to see what it’s going to look like when it’s finished is invaluable.

Events

Another great use of animation is for events. Be it part of an event or advertising for it.

A great example would be what we provided or the Manchester Medic’s Society (Medsoc) Annual Charity Ball.  We created a series of themed, looping animated wallpapers that were projected on the walls around the Imperial War Museum in Manchester. All of the walls were designed to enhance the 1920s theme and transform the venue into a more immersive and unique experience for guests.

That was just a few way in which animation can be used to great effect. There are hundreds more, not just Films and TV shows! Maybe you can think of one that may benefit you?

We hope you found this post informative. Don’t forget to let us know what you think, make sure to follow us on social media and keep checking back for news and updates on the MIC Blog.
